20th December 2016 – The Deputación de Pontevedra headquarters held a training session addressed to technical staff from city councils and companies of the water sector who are interested on the SANePLAN information system for managing municipal sanitation.

A practical demonstration of this software which is accessible via internet was undertaken by ITG (Instituto Tecnológico de Galicia) staff. The 75 attendants were able to check step by step how this software answers to key aspects which help in making both political and technical decisions on this matter.

Georeferencing of infrastructures; analysing the energy consumption, the costs involved and the environmental impact; examining carbon dioxide emissions; registering and handling incidents; analyse critical nodes of the network and simulate future scenarios taking into consideration conditions such as new urban development projects or seasonal overpopulation in touristic villages, were some of the exposed functionalities.

The acting president of Deputacion de Pontevedra, David Regades, recalled that “this service, which works from wastewater and stormwater networks to the very wastewater treatment plants, is one of the main pillars of municipalities, and that is why mayors require solutions in this regard”.
Likewise, he said in advance that “following the presentation, SANePLAN will be launched in Cambados, Ribadumia, Baiona and Vilanova de Arousa, the four municipalities involved in the project where more than 425 km of networks have already been analysed”. Aside from these four municipalities, the aim of Deputación de Pontevedra is to deploy the system in the future in the whole province.
